Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, took control to create a decider.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a close final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
