PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
